The exact blueprint to create, grow, and utilize an email list
Why am I formatting it like this? For years, I've taken a course nearly every month. I’m a big believer in continuing education. I took a workshop last year formatted just like this and it was still the best I’ve taken in quite some time. I left feeling accomplished, like I got my money’s worth, and like I was READY to go. I want that for you!
Let me get REALLY real with you.
I’m a bit of a nerd. I enjoy crunching data and seeing what works for my business. After all, my background is in social media and marketing. I used to run the social campaigns for huge companies. I actually used to be in charge of sending out the newsletters to the social media teams across some of the biggest Fortune 500 companies.
So when I started my blog, I wanted to see, what was really working?
This is where it gets, well, kind of scary.
In 2018, I spent $20,000 on Facebook ads. That’s a huge chunk of change. Here were the results:
Page Views on the blog - 100,000 ➡️ 200,000 views from the previous year
Email Subscribers - 25,000 ➡️ 50,000 (woah, great right? WRONG)
Number of people who purchased a product from Facebook ads - 200
That means only 200 people bought someone from the 25,000 that signed up. OH NO. That was a big, fat waste of money.
I think there are a lot of online gurus that share their numbers, “I have 150,000 Instagram followers!” “I have 300,000 people on my email list!” “I have 500,000 followers on TikTok!”
But the problem is, they stop right there. They don’t tell you exactly how they are monetizing or ways they are able to continually grow. And all of those followers mean nothing if they don’t really care about you, and you can’t monetize it.
Which is why having a newsletter, a list of subscribers that care, is the real secret.
